Taking a day off.

I have been sick with a cold for almost a week & shut up inside. So as the day warmed up outside I just couldn't stand being inside. So today turned into a sit in all the great sunshine & enjoy a day chilling out watch the chickens free range. I so enjoyed this day relaxing.

Then laster this evening I did go dig the onions up.

It has been one of the best days I have has just chilling.  Tomorrow we have a friend coming mid-morning to trim our maple trees and I am hoping to get a few photos of that. Plus I will be picking more green beans.

A little canning & drying

I got the last of 2 rows of green beans done tonight.  I put them in the dehydrator before going to work.  I miss my garden this year it didn't do well at all with the dry spell we had & me hurting myself so I couldn't even tote water down to it. I did find I have some onions coming back up so I will get them up this weekend. I have started drying Kale, mustard greens & turnip green this year from the fall garden I share with 2 other friends. I am using it in soups like a herb. I crush up a small hand full & add it to the soups.  We have found it is pretty good & I will be doing as much as I can before it is gone.

Being sick, sliding glass door & green beans.

I have been sick with what ever bug is going around here lately. But Monday we had a friend Wayne who could help us put in the new sliding glass door we got on clearance sale the 4th of July at Lowes & I am loving the new door. It was a beautiful day to put it in & we couldn't have ask for a better day.  My chickens behaved themselves and no one tried to come in while we were working.   Still got to trim out the inside & put up some kind of  blind but it will be alright until then.At less now there is no more wind & cold coming threw the door now like our old one. And the fall garden of green beans need picking. So I also starting on them Monday with over 8 gallons of beans picked to start with & then again yesterday I picked another 8 to10 gallons. So I have been very busy canned & dried beans.  I have been fighting this cold and also taking care of what has to be done. Later on this winter it will all pay off .

This is Wayne getting the opening all ready for the new door.

Getting use to a new cell phone

New phone on the left and my old phone on the right.
Up until 2 weeks ago I had the same old cell phone for 6 years & I loved it. But the man of the house decided it was time for new phones.  I am still learning to use it and it is a love & hate thing right now.  I love that is has a camera in it & that is 1 less thing I now take every were with me. What I hate about my phone so far is I keep locking it up every time I touch it on my cheek & I have lost a few calls now because of it.  I am trying to spend a hour everyday learning how to use it better & it seems more like a mini computer to me the more I learn.  Which is kind of neat.  I guess I'll learn it with a little time & lots of practice.  Just like when I got my first pressure canner last year, it scared me the first few times I used it. Now I would be lost without it.
